COMMITTEES

PTO JOB DESCRIPTIONS

The PTO Chairs are composed of PTO members who are either elected or appointed to the position. The Chairs meets on a monthly basis throughout the school year and, along with committee members, help manage the organizational and financial aspects of all the PTO functions.

VICE PRESIDENT(S)

The VP(s) must attend all District PTO meetings and represent Grant Ragan. The VP(s) attends and leads all of the Grant Ragan PTO meetings and overseas each of the Grant Ragan PTO Committees. The VP(s) serves as a liaison between the PTO and the school Principal.

TREASURER

Creates (along with the Vice Presidents) and maintains the PTO budget. Works closely with the VP(s) and all committee chairs on all budget issues. Disburses checks and submits deposits, while working closely with the District Treasurer.

ACTIVITIES

Responsible for planning, organizing and implementing family and school events that promote community throughout the year. Some examples would be the Fall Movie Night and Spring Carnival.

APPAREL

Organize and work with the design, ordering and distribution of apparel sales.

BOOK FAIR

Works to schedule, arrange, set-up, tear down and staff the book fair twice a year at conference time.

CLASSROOM COORDINATOR

Recruits homeroom parents and provides the homeroom parent guidance to support the teachers and the classroom through classroom parties, volunteer or supply needs.

COMMUNICATIONS

Manages the communication of the Grant Ragan PTO with attention to keeping the Grant Ragan staff, parents and students feeling welcomed and informed at PTO meetings and events and through various media.

CONFERENCE MEALS

Coordinates the meals for teachers during the Fall & Spring conferences including planning, set-up, tear-down and purchasing supplies as needed based on the budget.

FUNDRAISING

Coordinates PTO fundraising activities and events throughout the year to support the PTO budget in supporting the Grant Ragan Elementary.

RESTAURANT NIGHTS

Work with local restaurants in the summer to schedule Grant Ragan Fundraising nights.   Plan, advertise and follow up on each event.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES

Coordinates the order of the school supplies with the District PTO and the distribution of supplies before school starts.

STAFF APPRECIATION

Organizes small ways to show appreciation to all staff throughout the year. Creates a special week of events/treats for the staff during the first week in May (School Staff/Teacher Appreciation week).

YEARBOOK

Works with the Grant Ragan staff, homeroom parents and the yearbook printing company, to create a quality yearbook.
